The Founder

BRIEF HISTORY:

It all started in a dream. One night, in one of her dreams, Estrella O. Simon saw herself managing her own school and from then on, the dream never escaped her memory.

She interpreted her dream as a manifestation of God’s plan for her. Moreover, she believed that putting up her own school would guarantee her two children Echel O Simon and Leovinci O Simon as well as the children of Francisco Homes community, a well-deserved quality education.

After consulting her plans to her husband Mr. Leonardo D. Simon, the couple laid down the initial construction plans of the would be “Francisco Homes Learning Center” with the help of the other members of the family.

The school started its operation on June 14, 1984 with 350 pupils offering Nursery to Grade Four. Mrs. Estrella O. Simon as the Principal with seven teachers, Ms. Leonita S. Alquisola, Ms. Sylyn B. Decena, Ms. Susan P. Cariño, Mr. Pepito P. Gerona, Ms. Zenaida Y. Gerona, Ms. Visitacion L. Laciste and Mr. Gaspar V. Solis, Jr.

The student population doubled on its second year with the school offering complete levels of Elementary Education with Government Recognition H-E-023. In the year 1989 Francisco Homes Learning Center changed its name to Francisco Homes Learning Academy. This was the year that the school offered complete secondary course, since quality education was catered to the community.

The cooperation of unity of the administration, teaching and non-teaching staff, students and parents really paid off for FHLA has been reaping success since then.  Albeit the trials and hindrances that come way FHLA still continues to be a living example of an uncommercialized quality education.

Francisco Homes Learning Academy expanded its services, Teacher Echel O. Simon-Antero as assistant principal in March 3, 2003.  Offering Special Science Class High School in June 2003 was a brainchild project of Teacher Echel.  Achievements did not stop then, continuous expansion occurred and on March 3, 2004, Teacher Echel O.
